Sam Hopkins - aka DJ Balagan - has been DJing funky-fresh dance floors since Prince’s “1999” was the anthem for every prom in America. He's rocked parties across the U.S. and overseas from Tel Aviv to Rio de Janeiro, performing primarily at clubs, weddings and corporate events. Sam brings a global sense of what's interesting and what's funky to any dancefloor, graciously taking requests and blending them with sure-fire hits that make people smile and dance. He has also released several records as Balagan and as a member of Baltimore rock band Lo Moda.
Sam’s DJ performances skillfully incorporate beatmatching, scratching, blends, live remixes and looping. His most memorable gig? DJing at the Israeli Embassy. When he’s not performing at weddings and events, DJ Balagan surfaces regularly at Baltimore-area venues like Windup Space, Wonderland Ballroom, Science Club, The Depot, Sonar, DC9, Ottobar, Rocket to Venus, Diskobar and Red Maple.
